I could run acceptably with 2 clients previously, but now it is starting to become unplayable, including some graphics artifacts when things get really slow. Could this be the new shader models? AMD 4850e dual core nvidia 8800gt 2x 1920x1200

45. fanfest faction warfare = datacores - in Science and Industry [original thread]
Have been grinding my way through several corps to get standing with a nice collection of lvl4 agents. Most of my alts were only created for datacore harvesting, so my passive income has slowly been growing. All these alts have been maxed out in R...

46. Datacore Price hike!! - in Market Discussions [original thread]
Yup, I've been grinding for some time now gaining access to lvl4 agents for all my toons, and I am almost there. It's definately not been passive. Have cashed all my RP into datacores to beat the pricehike. I'll continue as I am almost there, but ...

47. Has anybody tried the new Launcher? - in Linux [original thread]
I had an older wine version. Simply upgrading to 1.4 didn't do the trick, probably something in my .wine directory was not quite right. Making a fresh .wine directory and moving my EVE directory into it solved things. I run the following script: ...

Yup, a fresh .wine directory seems to do the trick. Now I need to do some performance tuning

Ok, I did the winetricks stuff, and native/builtin (and reverse). the repair tool seems to be working, however, eve.exe does not. in my console: wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/CCP/EVE/eve.exe fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil) 0 fixm...

Ah well, at least EVE gate still works so I can update my skills. I'll try upgrading to wine1.4 tomorrow with all the winetricks and see whether that gets things working. Grmbl

Ok, small update with some extra data. On lowest quality settings, with 1 full screen client and 2 smaller windowed clients memory usage gets near 8G, and performance starts to become a bit sluggish on my main screen. You definately seem to need m...

Ok, I think I am back in business with 2 1920x1200 screens: - Crucible 1.02 produced no discernable differences. - updating RAM from 4G to 8G seemed to improve things from 'pretty hopeless' to "somewhat sluggish". - changing screen update from 'im...

56. dual 1920x1200 clients : minimum for smooth running? - in Linux [original thread]
As also written in other threads Crucible is a bit more resource hungry. Since the release 1 client is ok, but 2 definately is not. I have an amd 4850e (2 cores,2.5GHz), 4G ram and a single 8800gt card. If you have 2 clients of this size smoothly...

Ok, no sounds was due to the jukebox being back, probably because I copied another EVE install directory. I did some experiments with EVE in a small window and that also takes between 1.8G and 2.0G, so it isn't the graphics settings, the Crucible...

Another strange thing I noticed is that only one of my clients allows spinning in station. In the other the ships have a fixed orientation. Both client have their own complete wine directories. I suspect an obscure setting or key/mouse binding
